Course Overview:
Ever wondered why Apps look so cool and what goes behind creating them? What if you had the power to develop your own apps? Want to show the world how your game changing idea will succeed? Get your answers Students ideate, design, test and create mobile Apps for the real world and share them with peers. Encouraged by a facilitative and creative environment, students also begin to explore their roles as problem solvers and social change agents, while creating various game and non-game apps. No previous coding experience is required!with this App Building Beginner course.
Course Content:
Day 1: Introduction to Apps & Thunkable. Create your 1st basic App. Adding images, sound and interactive features to your App
Day 2: Importance of the User interface. Formatting challenges. Finish your Translator App.
Day 3: Create Dice Challenge App. Begin your own app, with your own big ideas.
Day 4: Concepts - Randoms , Lists & Conditionals ; Finish creating your own App
Day 5: Enhance you App by using navigators & adding a rating feature. Build Image Recogniser App. Learn the concept of using Multimedia on your app by adding 'Sharing' feature to your apps.
Learning Outcomes:
- Students will learn to create their own applications (Apps), for mobile devices
- They will learn to conceptualise, design, and develop their own game & non-game apps
- Understand computing concepts & work on Thunkable (programming tool)
- Work on guided projects to understand concepts
- Develop & Pitch personalised projects to reinforce learnings at the end of the Season
Teaching Methods:
Project-Based Learning: Encourage children to work on coding projects that align with their interests and passions. This approach allows them to apply coding skills to create something meaningful to them.

Assessment Methods:
Students are provided feedback in every class, and their projects are stored online. They are encouraged to share their creations with their families and peers. Each class starts with a recap, allowing instructors to take feedback from students and adjust the pace of learning. Students fill a comprehensive end-of-season feedback form, which is shared with the school and can be made available to parents as consolidated data.
Required Materials:
Stationery, Notebook, Water bottle, Jacket, and a laptop
Important Notes:
Please note that students are required to bring their own laptops for Camp. Students will need to have a gmail account. If the students don't have a Thunkable ID or a gmail account, we help them to create one. Please bring a notebook and pen/ pencil to take notes and plan the game design process.
