Course Overview

Step into a world of music, magic, and adventure where rhythm meets coding! In this action-packed workshop, kids will create their very own video game using Scratch, a fun, drag-and-drop coding platform. They will embark on a mission to save the world from digital demons, bringing their heroes' stories to life with special powers, scoring, and animated battles.

Course Content

  • Design Unique Heroes: Learn to design unique hero characters, each with special powers and musical flair.
  • Core Game Mechanics: Code essential game elements, including movements, scoring systems, and battle sequences.
  • Multimedia Integration: Add music, animations, and visual effects to enhance the game's story and excitement.
  • Game Development Pipeline: Build a playable game from the initial concept through to the final prototype.
  • Testing and Refinement: Kids will learn to plan, test, and refine their ideas—just like real game developers!

Learning Outcome

By the end of this workshop, every participant will:

  • Create a fully functional mini-game that they designed themselves.
  • Master the fundamentals of game design and programming logic using the Scratch platform.
  • Develop problem-solving skills through iterative testing and refinement of code.
  • Enhance creativity by blending storytelling, character design, and technical coding.
  • Gain experience with core programming concepts (like loops, conditionals, and variables) in a fun, visual environment.

Teaching Method

This workshop uses a hands-on, project-based approach:

  • Guided Workshop: Instructors provide clear steps for creating game assets and coding mechanics.
  • Project-Based Learning: The entire course is centered around the single goal of creating a complete video game prototype.
  • Active Development: Students spend the majority of the time actively designing, coding, and testing their games.
