Course Overview
Ignite your child’s imagination in this three-day holiday programme, ‘A Dragon’s Tale’! Students will explore the fantasy genre, learn narrative writing techniques, and create their very own dragon-themed storybook. Through hands-on activities and guided analysis of popular books and movies, children gain practical storytelling skills in a fun and engaging way.
Course Content
- Introduction to the fantasy genre and elements of good storytelling
- Analysis of popular fantasy books and movies to learn storytelling techniques
- Understanding and applying the 5 aspects of narrative plot structure
- Practicing 3 effective writing techniques to improve clarity and creativity
- Story planning, illustration, and development activities
- Creation and presentation of a personalised dragon-themed storybook
- Model story analysis to identify elements of strong writing
Learning Outcome
By the end of the programme, students will:
- Produce a complete, illustrated dragon-themed storybook
- Understand how to plan and structure a story using the 5 narrative plot elements
- Apply writing techniques to make stories more engaging and vivid
- Gain insight into the fantasy genre and what makes stories captivating
- Develop skills in story planning, writing, and presentation
