Description

Course Overview

Based on the adaptation of the stage show, Finding Tomorrow is designed to cultivate students' language proficiency, communication skills, and confidence through engaging theatrical activities. This camp is the result of the cooperation of various institutions with the aim of providing a creative learning experience for children to hone their speech and drama skills.

The Chief Camp Director for the programme is Ms Sunny Sun, a professional actress / director who has been involved in over 40 theatrical productions and won many prestigious awards. She holds a Masters degree (MFA) and is a lecturer at Shanghai Theatre Academy.

Course Content

Throughout the camp, students will explore various aspects of Chinese language and drama, including pronunciation, intonation, expression, and stage performance. The curriculum integrates language learning with dramatic storytelling, improvisation, role-playing, and script interpretation to create a dynamic and immersive learning experience.

Learning Outcomes

By participating in this camp, students will not only improve their Chinese language abilities but also develop their creativity, critical thinking, and presentation skills.

  • Students will learn about the details of the play: plot, character & setting
  • Students to develop skills in movement, posture and expressions through acting
  • Students to consolidate their newly acquired skills to present a memorable theatrical performance.

Teaching Methods

1) Role-playing and Skits: Students will engage in role-playing activities where they assume different characters and act out scenes from Chinese literature, folklore, or contemporary stories. Through this method, they will practice speaking in Chinese, express emotions, and enhance their improvisation skills.

2) Script Reading and Interpretation: Students will work with scripts from Chinese plays, stories, or films. They will learn to read and interpret the dialogue, understand the context, and convey the meaning effectively through expressive speech and gestures. This method helps improve comprehension, vocabulary, and fluency in Chinese.

3) Voice and Pronunciation Exercises: Various voice and pronunciation exercises will be incorporated into the camp to help students develop clear and articulate speech in Chinese. Techniques such as vocal warm-ups, tongue twisters, and tone drills will be used to refine pronunciation, intonation, and rhythm.

4) Performance Workshops and Feedback Sessions: Students will participate in performance workshops where they will rehearse scenes, monologues, or speeches in Chinese. They will receive constructive feedback from instructors and peers to improve their acting skills, stage presence, and delivery. These workshops provide valuable opportunities for self-expression, collaboration, and personal growth in a supportive environment.
