Course Overview:

Join us for a hands-on 2-day holiday camp designing your personal bedroom space with an understanding of floor layout planning, furniture types, materials, colours and textures.

Children will be introduced to Design Thinking principles to identify their needs and desires for their bedroom spaces before starting on the floor layout planning. They will get to personalize and decorate the interior spaces; learn model-making techniques and get creative transforming everyday materials into their own unique bedroom model prototype.

DesignTinkers camps are specially curated and led by instructors who are architects, designers and educators with the passion and experience of working with young children to nurture their creative interests. Camps are held in our spacious and conducive classroom for kids to create and explore freely under our guidance.

Course Content:

Children are also introduced to space planning and learn how to draw their ideal room plan before testing their building forms in 3D. Every project is different and child-led; we guide each child to be confident in expressing their ideas and showing them ways to materialise them. The children will be amazed by their own creations at the end of this workshop!

Learning Outcomes:

This workshop introduces children to Design and Architecture concepts and principles through hands-on sketching and model-making.

They are introduced to the Design Thinking process which promotes a solution-based approach in their creations; by focusing on who they are designing for and responding to the user’s needs and challenges.

Children will apply Design Thinking principles in understanding the needs and challenges before starting the design, and they will be introduced to the basics of space planning. They will get to personalise and decorate the interior spaces, learn basic model making and get creative transforming everyday materials into their own unique bedroom model prototype.
