Description

Course Overview:

Join us for an exciting 5-day Holiday Camp where children dive into a world of creativity and innovation! Designed to spark curiosity, this hands-on camp invites kids to explore a variety of make-and-build projects—encouraging experimentation, enhancing dexterity, and strengthening both creative and critical thinking skills. Each day brings a new opportunity to learn, create, and have fun through purposeful play and exploration.

Course Content:

On Day 1, students will explore model making and be creative in building up a TreeHouse design. With a real tree branch as their site context, they'll explore form, features, levels, platforms, and openings, thinking creatively about how their treehouse will look and function. They will learn how to provide proper support and access, bringing their imaginative designs to life through thoughtful construction.

On Day 2 & 3, Students are introduced to various environmentally sustainable building design strategies; understand how to keep their home building energy efficient, learn about materials and to use resources in a responsible manner. Students will build a 3D model prototype of their Eco-Home.

On Day 4, students get to design their own Ice Cream Truck before brainstorming on the branding of their Ice Cream Company! They will explore the spatial and functional needs of a mobile ice cream business; balancing production space with sales flow, before bringing their ideas to life through 3D prototyping.

On Day 5, students will learn how Graphic Designers create visual content to communicate messages by applying visual hierarchy and page layout techniques, also understanding typography to design their own Ice Cream Brand Logo, Menu and a Poster to advertise for the grand opening of their Ice Cream Truck.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Project-Based Learning allows students to apply their knowledge and skills in a practical and meaningful way.
  • Design Thinking process applied in the project allowing students to empathise with users, define problems, and generate ideas to create their home prototype.
  • Our open studio environment promotes cross-learning, allowing students to learn from one another as everyone's design outcome is different. The open sharing session builds confidence as one shares their design ideas and creations.
