Term 1: Exploring Architecture through Geometry, Form, Frame & Structure (Weeks 1-9)
In this nine-week term, students dive deeper into architectural design fundamentals. They will discover how geometry and form shape the spaces around us, and learn about the essential building elements, components, and structural systems that make architecture possible. Through guided design challenges and model-making activities, students will experiment with real architectural concepts while strengthening their spatial awareness, problem-solving abilities, and design thinking skills.
Dates:
- Tuesday: 6 Jan - 10 Mar 2026 (No class on 17 Feb 2026)
Term 2: Imagining Homes of the Future (Weeks 10-18)
In Term 2, the adventure continues with nine exciting lessons that deepen the concepts learned in Term 1 while introducing bold new design challenges. Students will embark on a creative exploration of Homes of the Future, imagining how and where people might live in the years to come. From designing homes on Mars to conceptualising underwater habitats and airborne dwellings, students will stretch their imagination and develop the mindset of architects and innovators. Through hands-on model-making, they will bring their futuristic home concepts to life while discovering how creativity, technology, and design shape the way we may live tomorrow.
Dates:
- Tuesday: 24 Mar - 19 May 2026
Final 2 Weeks: Presenting Their Masterpieces:
Week 17 focuses on presentation and communication skills, guiding students to craft a clear and professional showcase of the ideas and models they have developed across the term.
Week 18 culminates in an open showing, where parents are invited to view and celebrate their child's learning journey, creativity, and accomplishments.
Teaching Methods:
DesignTinkers programs are led by experienced instructors, including educators, architects, and designers. The program provides a supportive environment for children to explore, create, and collaborate while guided by experts.
Prerequisites:
Complete all 4 Terms of Introduction to Design & Architecture 1
Assessment Methods:
No assessments will be done
Required Materials:
Water bottle and stationery
Trial Lesson:
A paid trial lesson ($75) is available once for first-timers
*Please sign up for trial class 3 days before class starts
Important Notes:
- No class on Public Holidays
- If a student is unable to attend any lessons at the last minute but has a valid reason, only one make-up session is allowed per term.
- Term 2 will resume based on demand
