Course Overview: 

Our programme is specifically designed to provide young learners with a strong foundation in Mandarin Chinese, focusing on essential language skills and daily communication. In our small group setting, each student receives personalised attention, creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Course Content: 

Understanding the significance of early language acquisition, our programme is meticulously crafted to instil a robust foundation in Mandarin Chinese for young learners. Our approach fosters not just language proficiency, but also confidence in using Mandarin in daily interactions, emphasising everyday communication to make the language both practical and relatable.

Recognising that every child's learning curve is unique, our classes maintain a small group setting. This ensures that each student benefits from individualised attention. By creating a nurturing atmosphere where students actively participate, we set the stage for a lifelong appreciation of the Mandarin language.

Learning Outcomes: 

Reading Han Yu Pin Yin: Students will learn how to pronounce Mandarin accurately by using Pin Yin. This system helps students master the correct pronunciation of characters. Additionally, they will engage in oral practices to enhance communication skills.

Daily Conversation & Basic Chinese Characters: Our class focuses on practical communication skills, teaching students how to engage in daily conversations confidently. The children will also have a lot of exposure to Chinese literature components (唐诗,成语和谚语). We use age-appropriate storybooks to encourage reading comprehension and foster a love for Chinese literature.

Build a strong foundation on listening and speaking: Students will listen to native speakers, practice listening comprehension, and respond to questions in Mandarin. They will read aloud to improve pronunciation and fluency while understanding the meaning of the text.

Teaching Methods:

1. Songs: With Chinese melodies and lyrics, we tap into their innate love for rhythm and sound.

2. Games: Interactive games cater to a child's playful nature while subtly teaching them about sentence structure, grammar, and vocabulary.

3. Storytelling: Narratives are powerful memory aids. Traditional and contemporary Chinese stories captivate young minds, helping them grasp the language.

4. Crafts: Hands-on craft activities offer a dual benefit. While kids immerse themselves in creating something tangible, they also encounter Chinese characters, symbols, and themes.

5. Show and Tell: This empowers children to express themselves in Chinese, boosting their confidence. By sharing personal stories or showcasing items, they practice conversational Chinese, enhancing their speaking and listening skills.

Assessment Methods:

We will have weekly oral, listening and writing quizzes for each student

Required Materials: 

• Water bottle and stationery
• Lesson material will be provided by the teacher

Important Notes:

If the lesson falls on a Public Holiday, a make-up lesson shall be arranged within the same week. Monday is the first day of the week.
