Description
Overview
The camp's goal is to introduce students to the fact that Minecraft is not only exciting to play but also to create content. During the week, we will create Minecraft gameplay videos that we will edit using WeVideo. To do this, we will learn video and Minecraft skills, such as editing, video audio, and even building redstone structures. During the sessions, we create videos that are ready to publish on social media, but we do not use social media sites due to possible age restrictions.
Course Content
- logical thinking, problem-solving
- Basics of Minecraft Design via Redstone
- Basics of video editing with WeVideo (cutting, editing, audio and text in videos, FPS-TPS, thumbnail and short videos)
Course Structure
(The content can change until May 2025)
Day 1:
We learn what is Minecraft content and we discuss internet safety rules that are connected to shared videos. We talk about how these videos are made, and how important a good idea is. We learn about video styles and check some videos. We introduce the Replay mod, and show how to download it. We create a short timelapse video where we build a small house in Minecraft. Introduce WeVideo, and start cutting our first video. We are also getting to know how to cut videos, add transitions and how to use stock videos.
Day 2:
On the second day, we try out new features of WeVideo. We learn how to use texts on videos. We also create an intro or thumbnail video for our Minecraft Movie (that we will create on the last day of the camp). We also learn the difference between first and third person view.
Day 3:
We learn how to use music and sounds in Minecraft and WeVideo. We play in survival mode and create an interesting video using music and effects.
Day 4:
Today, we create a craft tutorial video using redstone structures. We also discuss shorter videos (like TikTok, Reels, or YouTube Shorts), and the challenges of this style. We create two cool short videos in the appropriate size.
Day 5:
On the last day, we learn about filmmaking techniques, and how to create a movie. We go through the main steps, we create a plot and a short script for our movie. We use the thumbnail video we created on the second day, and we continue the story a bit. We use the video editing techniques we learned in this individual project.
Learning Outcomes:
During the camp, kids will be able to:
- Get familiar with the logic gates, Redstones, and various Minecraft functions
- Get familiar with Wevideo platform
Teaching Methods:
Everyone can learn programming and digital literacy. Our curriculum contains fully gamified, modular, and smart lessons to make learning FUN. We believe in the methodology of 'Learning by Doing'. In our lessons, theory and practice are hand in hand – research show that doing the projects while learning the theory results in long term results and good foundation for overall success
Prerequisites:
Kids do not need any previous training or knowledge to complete this camp.
Assessment Methods:
No assessments will be done
Required Materials:
Water bottle
Important Notes:
