P3 Higher Chinese

Course Overview

Our Higher Chinese programme equips children with a strong foundation in Mandarin, focusing on advanced vocabulary, confident communication, and mastery of school-based requirements. With small group learning, every child receives personalised guidance in a supportive and structured environment, helping them build confidence and proficiency in Chinese.

Course Content

Our curriculum is aligned with the Ministry of Education (MOE) syllabus to ensure that children learn exactly what they need for school. Lessons are designed to reinforce what they learn in class, deepen understanding, and strengthen their ability to apply knowledge in both assessments and everyday communication.

Learning Outcomes

Textbook Vocabulary and Usage

Children will revise MOE textbook vocabulary and learn to apply key phrases effectively in their compositions and examinations.

Oral and Composition Skills

Children will be exposed to Chinese literature components such as Tang poems, idioms, and proverbs. They will learn to read stories independently and use age-appropriate storybooks to develop reading comprehension and confidence in expressing themselves in Mandarin.

Comprehensive Language Skills (读写听说)

Our structured approach covers reading, writing, listening, and speaking. Children will practise listening to native speakers, answering oral questions, reading aloud with accuracy, and writing with clarity and coherence.

Teaching Methods

Lessons incorporate interactive activities, flashcards, writing exercises, Chinese language games, and role-play scenarios to keep learning engaging and meaningful. These methods help children enjoy the subject while building strong literacy skills.

Prerequisites

This programme is designed for children who are already taking Higher Chinese in school. They should also have a good understanding of the previous year's core Chinese language content to follow the curriculum effectively.

Assessment Methods

Weekly oral, listening, and writing quizzes will be conducted to track progress and reinforce learning.

Required Materials

• Water bottle and stationery
• Han Tang will provide all lesson materials. Children must bring their materials for every lesson.
• The material fee is included in the course fee.

Important Notes

If a lesson falls on a public holiday, course fee will be pro-rate accordingly.
