Course Overview:
Discovering Mandarin Wonders - P1 Preparation
Our programme is thoughtfully tailored for students aged 5 to 7 years old, aiming to establish a strong foundation in language and literacy skills that will facilitate a seamless transition to Primary 1. We prioritise making the learning process enjoyable, using engaging activities to kindle your child's interest in Chinese.
Course Content:
- Han Yu Pin Yin: We focus on Hanyu Pinyin, helping students accurately pronounce Mandarin words, thereby enhancing their language learning experience.
- Reading and Singing Classic Chinese Poems and Stories: Through the beauty of Chinese literature, students develop a deeper connection with the language.
- Oral Conversation: Our classes are designed to boost students' confidence in engaging in everyday conversations.
- Writing Chinese Characters by Pencil and Brush (Calligraphy): We introduce the art of calligraphy, allowing students to not only write but also appreciate the beauty of Chinese characters.
Learning Outcomes:
- Proficient Pronunciation: Using Hanyu Pinyin, students will master the correct pronunciation of Mandarin words.
- Daily Conversation & Basic Chinese Characters: Our classes focus on practical communication skills, enabling students to confidently engage in everyday conversations.
- Enhanced Language Skills: We adopt a comprehensive approach, covering listening, reading, comprehension, and oral skills. Students will listen to native speakers, practice listening comprehension, read aloud to improve pronunciation and fluency, and develop their ability to write Chinese characters correctly and efficiently.
Teaching Methods:
Our teaching methods revolve around interactive and engaging activities, such as role-plays, games, storytelling, and Chinese calligraphy. We employ age-appropriate storybooks to foster a love for Chinese literature and encourage reading comprehension.
Prerequisites:
No prerequisites are needed. It is open to all N2 to K2 students.
Assessment Methods:
Assessments in this programme cover basic oral skills, listening skills, writing, and "show and tell" activities, providing a well-rounded evaluation of each student's progress.
Required Materials:
All that's needed are a water bottle and basic stationery. Worksheets and learning materials will be thoughtfully provided by Han Tang Learning Hub to support your child's learning journey.
