Science Workshop - Science of Perfumery & Salt Painting

Curiosity Kids "Science of Perfumery" is a 1.5 hour workshop which allows children to make and take home items such as Perfume and Salt Paintings. It's a great way to introduce science to your younger children and have your older children explore science in depth as well. Turn you child into an inquisitive thinker and explorer who can problem solve efficiently.

Learning objectives:

1. Science of Perfumery

• Exploring the basics of what goes inside the process
• How perfume is made
• History of perfume making
• Creating your own basic perfume using special techniques

2. Salt Painting

• Understand what science comes into play in your painting
• Design and create your own keepsake salt painting
• Enhances creativity & curiosity
• Promotes critical thinking through design
• Cultivates the habit of observing, exploring & applying information
• Promotes fine motor skills for younger children

Lesson Structure:

In this 1.5 hour workshop, Children will start with Salt Painting, where they will design and learn how colour flows on their painting and the science behind it. Afterwards, they will move to perfume making, exploring, understanding and making their own fragrances. This will be a hands on activity which will give children full opportunity to learn and we encourage children to ask questions about the activity to foster creativity and curiosity.

Please note no prior knowledge of science is required for this workshop and it is enjoyable for all ages. Challenging activities will be provided for older children and concepts will be adjusted to the level of understanding for younger children. At the end of the workshop children will get an opportunity to share their observations!
