Overview
Dive into a world where art, animation, coding, and superheroes unite! Students embark on a journey of creativity, designing and coding their own superheroes, infusing them with superpowers, and animate their unique universe. Along the way, they master basic computing concepts like algorithms, sequencing, loops, and event handling. Students also get to share their epic creations with friends & family! Skills acquired: Coding, creative expression, and problem solving.
Content
Day 1 - Introduction to Scratch: Familiarization with the Scratch interface, sprites, and blocks. Icebreaker activity to get to know each other and set the tone for creativity. Brainstorming session to create unique superhero concepts.Sketching and drafting superhero designs on paper.Introduction to basic Scratch sprite creation and customization
Day 2 - Introduction to basic animation concepts in Scratch (e.g., movement, costumes).Challenges involved - Animating the superhero,sprite's basic movements (walking, jumping, etc.).Refining animations and adding simple actions to the superhero sprite.
Day 3 - Introduction to coding concepts in Scratch (sequencing, loops, conditionals).
Explanation of how to use Scratch blocks to create basic superpowers.Implementing basic superpowers into the superhero sprite.
Day 4 - Introduction to more advanced coding techniques in Scratch (event handling, broadcast messages). Implementing more complex superpowers and interactions.
Day 5 - Refining animations and transitions for the superhero sprite and supporting elements.Adding visual effects and sound effects to enhance the overall experience. Students proudly present their superhero creations, sharing their journey and accomplishments with their peers.
Learning Outcomes
Every class starts with a recap, enabling instructors to gather feedback from students and adapt the learning pace accordingly. Students are encouraged to share their creations with their families and peers. Students fill a comprehensive end-of-season feedback form, which is shared with the school and can be made available to parents as consolidated data.
Teaching Methods
Organize a showcase event where students can proudly display their creations to peers, fostering a sense of accomplishment and recognition for their hard work.By combining all elements, students can create a dynamic and engaging projects that not only displays coding and animation skills but also encourages creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration.

- Please note that students are required to bring their own laptops for Camp.
- Please bring a notebook and pen/ pencil to take notes.
