Description

Course Overview:

Backed by a think tank of Chinese debate experts, our classes are led by experienced debaters from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Chinese Debate Teams, alongside elite English debate specialists. Under the guidance of experienced debate experts, students with no prior debate experience will receive high-quality coaching, learning to analyse complex issues, construct persuasive arguments, and communicate effectively in Chinese and English-equipping them with essential skills for academic success and beyond.

Course Content:

This enrichment course is designed for new learners with no prior debating experience, offering an engaging and informative introduction to Chinese debate. Across five terms, students build a solid foundation in logic, critical thinking, and structured argumentation through a blend of interactive classroom drills and full-debate simulations. The final session features a showcase debate where students apply their learning in a formal competition format. By the end of Level 1, participants will take part in at least one international debate competition.

Learning Outcome:

The SkyQuest Lab believes that the purpose of education is to cultivate bilingual talents for the future. We are a leading Chinese Debate Training Provider in Singapore. SkyQuest programmes equip students with critical thinking and communication skills to prepare them for higher education, professional careers, entrepreneurship, and leadership.

Teaching Methods:

The course covers highly interactive story-based and theory-based classes on critical thinking, argument construction, language skills, and debate practice. Students begin by exploring enriching narratives and engaging in interactive seminars where they learn to identify claims, construct reasons and support them in Chinese. They progress through structured activities such as brainstorming arguments, refining logic, practising rebuttals, and delivering speeches.
