Description

Course Overview:

Calling all future engineers! This exciting workshop will introduce our young engineers to the fascinating world of electricity and solar power through experimentation and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) hands-on activities.

In this electrifying 3-hour workshop, children will embark on a journey to understand circuits, their components, and how they work together to create electricity. Following their exploration of circuits, our budding explorers will then transform into engineers, designing and building their very own solar-powered cars!

Course Content:

In this workshop, our engineers will explore the fundamental concepts of circuits through fun and interactive hands-on activities and understand their application to other projects.

Experimenting with Snap Circuits:

- Learn about the different components of a circuit, including conductors, insulators, switches, and power sources.

- Explore the different types of energy sources: non-renewable and renewable energy.

- Experiment with building various circuits to understand how electricity flows.

Building a Solar Car:

- Discover the science behind solar energy and how it can be harnessed to generate electricity.

- Explore how solar panels convert sunlight into electrical power.

- Integrate newfound knowledge of circuits to implement a solar panel and motor into the car design.

Learning Outcomes:

In this electrifying workshop, young engineers will:

A. Gain a foundational understanding of circuits, their components, and their functionality.

B. Develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills through circuit design challenges.

C. Explore the power of solar energy as a renewable energy source.

D. Apply knowledge to design, construct, and test the effectiveness of the designed solar cars, encouraging innovation in design.

Teaching Methods:

Experiential Learning: Students will be acquiring knowledge through firsthand experiences and engaging in practical, hands-on activities.

Prerequisites:

No prerequisites required

Assessment methods:

No assessments will be done

Required materials:

Stationery and Water bottle

Important notes:

There will be a 15-minute short break during the workshop for children to take a rest
