Description

Course Overview:

Students focus on visualization techniques, the fundamentals of algebraic notation, and game analysis. These skills enable them to critically evaluate their performance and identify areas for improvement.

Course Content:

This module will focus on taking a student’s visualization abilities to the next level. To do this, students will work towards mastering algebraic notation, the shorthand chess players use to analyze their games. This will help students visualise chess positions in their minds, drastically improving their calculation abilities. Leveraging this, we will also learn how to analyze our past games, spot critical moments, and find the weaknesses in our gameplay.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Mastering algebraic notation for detailed game analysis
  • Understanding algebraic notation (the only official FIDEsanctioned language of chess) in order to improve post-game analysis
  • Enhancing strategic awareness through post-game review
  • Development of sportsmanship and resilience in competitive and casual play
  • Building critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Engage in friendly matches with peers to enhance teamwork and self-esteem.

Teaching Methods:

We combine storytelling, art, and hands-on activities to create an engaging learning environment. Children will explore their strengths in a supportive setting that encourages enthusiastic learning.
