Description
Course Overview:
Primary 5 is often regarded as one of the most challenging years in a child's primary school journey, serving as a pivotal time to address any learning gaps in preparation for PSLE. At Instic Academy, however, we prioritise a well-paced learning approach. Our first step is solidifying foundational understanding from the lower primary levels. Only then do we focus on honing the essential skills required to tackle word problems effectively? Our mission is to instil confidence in our students, pushing them to tackle demanding questions. Through meticulous practice, they learn to mitigate careless mistakes by thoroughly reviewing each step and minimising calculation errors, ensuring they achieve accuracy during examinations.
Course Content:
For the first time, your child will be taking an exam divided into two segments: Paper 1 and Paper 2, with Paper 2 carrying a significant weight of 55 out of the total 100 marks. Recognising the heightened intensity of the content, we at Instic Academy gear our efforts to equip your child for success in Paper 2. This is achieved through a combination of purposeful practice sessions and targeted exam preparation workshops. Since many of the new topics can seem abstract to students, it's crucial to bridge their understanding by linking these concepts to what they've already mastered in previous years. We're committed to reinforcing these connections, ensuring a smoother learning journey for your child.

Teaching Methods:
Here at Instic, we use thinking math resources that have popularised solvinproblemms sums using concepts or strategies such as Constant Difference, Internal Transfer, Quantity x Value, Total Change, Gap & Difference, etc. We also reinforce timed tests, activities, and workshops, coupled with ample practice opportunities. This comprehensive approach helps build your child's confidence in mastering new abilities and applying what they have learned.
While these strategies are an important part of the problem-solving process, at Instic we have raised the bar to the Next Generation of Learning with our proprietary ICAN approach to problem-solving.
