Description
Bring home a handmade Christmas accessory to spruce up your display. Using wood offcuts and twigs, this workshop allows for parent-child bonding as you build the form of a Christmas tree. The process is a fun and rewarding experience for your child, allowing them hands-on experience with a saw, a drill, and some screws.
The drop-in session gives children a chance to work with hand tools and wood to build something decorative. This workshop will serve as a determinant of their interest in woodworking.
Children will be provided an overview on specifc methods involved in making a Christmas Tree structure. They will also be introduced to hand tools required in completing a project. At the end of this workshop, students will be able to understand the methods they can use to produce their tray and develop an awareness of workshop safety for self and others.
In this workshop, Parent & Child will be guided through the use of basic woodworking hand tools:
- Introduction to using a mini drill
- Using a mallet
- Nailing
- Glueing
- Sanding and finishing
