The 6 core domains
Our curriculum is mapped against 6 core domains that provide a comprehensive framework for young children’s holistic development, helping them build a strong foundation for their future growth and success.
Cognition: cognitive development includes children’s ability to learn, understand, and process information. We develop their knowledge and understanding of the world, including themselves and people and things around them.
Virtues and Values: we build a strong foundation of values that will guide their behaviours and decisions throughout their lives by embodying and consistently expressing values, so that children can learn to understand and live by these values as they grow up.
Inquiry: curiosity, exploration, and a growth mindset are key components of this domain. We enable children to safely explore their sensory environment, encouraging them to develop a growth mindset, a desire to discover new things and a love for learning.
Empathy: social skills, cognitive, and affective empathy are important skills that enable children to build positive relationships and understand others. We help children learn to recognize and respond to the emotions of others, show compassion and kindness, and communicate effectively with others.
Personal effectiveness: competencies that help children succeed in school, work, and life, include problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and time management.
Being: we help children develop a strong sense of self and a positive outlook on life by promoting physical health, emotional intelligence, and developing a holistic sense of well-being that will serve them throughout their lives.
The Agora curriculum is supported by a thematic programme. Children follow a selection of topics that help them build a sense of the world around them. Our expert facilitators weave in topics and activities from each of the themes during our daily sessions, and show how they link together.
All themes are beautifully explored through a diverse array of disciplines within the humanities: Geography, History, and Religion. Additionally, STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) bring a multidimensional approach, while Physical Education encompasses vital aspects such as balance, control, coordination, agility, strength, stamina, speed, and Team Sports.
Agora Preschool provides a nurturing and enriching educational experience, adapted to accommodate children in Playgroup (18 months) to K2 (6-year-olds), including K1, N1&N2 levels. Our program engages young minds through a captivating blend of activities from diverse disciplines. Mandarin instruction is a significant component, please note that the displayed timings are for reference only. Children will have up to 4 lessons per week.
How to choose the right programme for my child?
Helping your child in their development and learning journey can feel daunting. This is particularly true for babies, toddlers and young children, before formal education starts. What approach will work best for them? Is parent-accompanied best, or should I leave my child alone?
There is no one-size-fits-all answer. Montessori, Reggio Emilia, or Waldorf Steiner are effective in certain contexts, and for certain children. These methodologies have strong theoretical foundations and can provide a clear and consistent framework for learning.
At Agora, we have opted for an open programme offering:
Flexibility and personalisation
Young children are developing at a rapid pace, and benefit from a variety of different learning experiences. An open program allows our educators to adapt their teaching methods and curriculum to meet their specific needs and interests.
Agora Preschool helps children learn from a range of perspectives and experiences, develop a more nuanced understanding of the world around them, and cultivate empathy and compassion. Children develop a sense of self, and a love of learning that will serve them throughout their lives.
Agora Educators incorporate recent research on child development and learning. They experiment with teaching methods and approaches to keep the programme fresh and engaging for children and parents alike.
