Description

Course Overview: 

Beginner chess camps for players brand new to the game. Meet the colourful characters who represent the chess pieces and learn why each one moves a certain way. Beginners learn to play full games and become eligible to play in Chess at Three tournaments.


Course Content: 

Each day campers will learn and practice a new chess piece, and play mini-games to practice chess concepts! By the end of camp, they will learn all the back row pieces, for a Chess Treasure Hunt Tournament!


Learning Outcomes: 

  • Learn all the chess pieces and basic gameplay
  • Unique curriculum of fun games and engaging stories
  • Break time activity: Crafts, Birchguard Quest


Teaching Methods:

We utilise a combination of storytelling, art, and drama to assist children in building their own characters. They can explore backgrounds, strengths, weaknesses, and motivations. Children learn more enthusiastically in a risk-free story-driven environment.


Prerequisites:

Ages 4 to 6

We welcome complete beginners


Assessment Methods:

No assessments will be done


Required Materials: 

Water bottle 


Important Notes: 

The camp has a duration of 180 minutes, parents are advised to be on time for class. No additional time extension will be given if the class is missed.
