Build A Treehouse

Course Overview: 

Explore model making and be creative in building up your TreeHouse with consideration for its form, features, levels, platforms and openings. With a natural tree branch as a site context, students will visualize their design and learn the support and access needed for their TreeHouse design.

Course Content: 

Students will be introduced to various examples of building TreeHouses around the world with an understanding of the design intent and consideration to inspire their very own TreeHouse design.

Learning Outcomes: 

Students will start with a sketch of the design of their TreeHouse and learn the skills to translate their 2D drawing into a 3D prototype. They will learn basic model-making skills to measure and cut; building up their TreeHouse model. In the process, they will learn how to reinforce the structure to ensure their design is stable and secure.

Teaching Methods:

Children will be introduced to various examples of building TreeHouses around the world with an understanding of the design intent and consideration to inspire their very own TreeHouse design. Every student's design is different and cross-learning is promoted in an open studio learning environment.

Assessment Methods:

No assessments will be done

Required Materials: 

Water bottle and a light jacket

Important Notes:

The course fee includes snacks and lunch. All materials will be provided, children will only have to bring their own water bottles.
