Course Overview
Get ready to hop and jump with Skipaholic! Our holiday workshop is a lively and exciting introduction to one of the most straightforward yet most rewarding sports for children.
Rope skipping is more than just a playground pastime — it’s a fantastic way to boost cardio health, build coordination, and enhance rhythm without the need for complicated equipment. Guided by our friendly and experienced coaches, children will discover:
- The joy of movement through skipping games and challenges
- Fun freestyle skills that spark creativity
- The confidence that comes with mastering a new skill
Best of all, they’ll be learning in a safe, supportive environment where they won’t just skip ropes — they’ll skip into better fitness, teamwork, and self-belief.
Course Structure & Content
Each session blends skill-building, fun, and teamwork to keep children engaged and motivated.
Highlights:
- Rope Making - Customising their very own skipping rope to bring home (Wednesday - December Camp Only)
- Getting Started Safely – Proper grip, rope length, posture, and safe jumping techniques.
- Basic Swings & Bounce — Learning the essentials
- Fun Tricks – Introduction on crossovers, footwork, rope releases
- Rhythm & Groove – Skipping to the beat with music, timing drills, and coordination games.
- Team Skipping Games – Partner and group activities to foster teamwork and cooperation.
- Showcase & Celebrate – A mini performance to showcase what they’ve learnt and build confidence.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, children will:
- Understand and perform basic rope skipping techniques with confidence
- Improve coordination, balance, rhythm, and agility
- Build stamina and cardiovascular fitness in a fun, active way
- Develop creativity through simple freestyle skills
- Gain team spirit through interactive group challenges
Prerequisites
- None – Perfect for beginners!
What to Bring
- Water bottle
- Comfortable sports attire and covered sports shoes
- Skipping rope (provided during class)
Important Note:
Session content will be mostly the same each run. Returning students may revisit similar activities, allowing them to reinforce and refine their skills.
