Description

Course Overview: 

Our programme is unique in that children fall in love with the game of chess by learning through our story-based curriculum, designed to captivate any young mind. Following a cast of quirky, memorable characters through the magical world of Chesslandia, students swiftly become successful chess players while developing critical thinking, strategy, and problem-solving skills.


Course Content: 

Over five days of chess adventures, campers are going to meet a bunch of interesting characters from Chesslandia. They'll learn the movement and some strategy secrets. Campers will be ready to seal their victories by saying every chess player's favourite word: Checkmate!


Learning Outcomes: 

  • Learn to play chess to checkmate
  • Spar with friends to build confidence
  • Break time activity: Birchguard Quest


Teaching Methods:

We utilise a combination of storytelling, art, and drama to assist children in building their own characters. They can explore backgrounds, strengths, weaknesses, and motivations. Children learn more enthusiastically in a risk-free story-driven environment.


Prerequisites:

Ages 6 to 11

We welcome complete beginners


Assessment Methods:

No assessments will be done


Required Materials: 

Water bottle 


Important Notes: 

The camp has a duration of 180 minutes, parents are advised to be on time for class. No additional time extension will be given if the class is missed.
